We transform lives.

Barnardo's transforms the lives of vulnerable children across the UK through the work of our projects, our campaigning and our research expertise.

We believe we can bring out the best in every child that needs our help. As more young people need specialist help with complex issues like sexual abuse, mental health problems and serious violence, our work is more vital than ever.

Times have changed and we've changed with them, but our belief in the potential of every child remains.

Because this is who we are.

Working directly with over 294,000 children and young people.

As one of the UK's leading children's charities, Barnardo's worked directly with over 294,000 children, young people and their families in the year 2018-19.

We run over 1,000 vital projects across the UK, including counselling for children who have been abused, support for young carers, fostering and adoption services, vocational training and disability inclusion groups.

Coronavirus has turned life upside down, for all of us. But for thousands of children, already or newly vulnerable, a new reality is emerging which is starker than we could ever have imagined.

We’re beginning to see more clearly how deep-rooted the impact of COVID-19 will be on children and young people, now and in the future. COVID 19 has made life more difficult for the vulnerable young people we help in more ways than we could have anticipated. In many cases, young people have been left isolated, anxious about the future and more exposed to harm.

The repercussions of the pandemic could last for years to come, as many disclosures take time and won’t be immediate. Our aim now is to be ready to support every child who needs us as this happens. We will keep our promise to believe in every child and to help them not just to recover, but to thrive.

Payroll Giving

Q. What is the easiest way to support Barnardo's without paying tax?

A. Payroll Giving -

Donating money direct from your pay - Payroll Giving - is an easy, tax-free way to help Barnardo's.

Payroll Giving makes great sense. It's a simple and painless way to give to Barnardo's...it provides the regular income so important to Barnardo's....and of course it's tax efficient...every £5 you commit to Barnardo's will cost you just £4.

But remember, the scheme is completely voluntary and confidential to you and of course the choice of charity is entirely yours.

Pay no tax

Because the donation is taken from your gross pay, every pound you give will only cost you 80p, or only 60p if you are a higher rate tax payer.

How much will my donation cost out of my take-home pay?

You donate   You pay
