You can make a regular Payroll Giving donation through your pay to ANY charity. Your Payroll Giving donations will be tax-free, meaning it will cost you less to give more. For instance, £5 donated pre-tax costs you £4 (or £3 if you pay a higher rate tax), but the full £5 is donated to charity. You can donate to ANY charity or multiple causes.

Payroll Giving lets you give more to the causes close to your heart
Are you wild about wildlife? Passionate about curing disease? Hoping to make life better for the world’s poorest? Whatever the charity, with Payroll Giving you can support the causes close to your heart.
Payroll Giving is the simplest way for BT people in the UK to donate to charity tax-free, directly from their salary. So if you donate £5, only £4 will be taken from your pay. Your donations are also topped up by BT every year with us matching the percentage donated. With Payroll Giving you can ensure your charitable donations go even further and make even more of a difference. And isn’t that what matters?
Payday joy
Some celebrate payday by hitting the shops – others by going for a meal - but why not share some of that payday joy with your favourite charity through Payroll Giving? It’s the easiest way to support your favourite charity or cause.
What if I change my mind?
No worries! You can cancel your donation, change the amount, which charities you would like to support, at any time.
Please note: This FAQ page can only be accessed on the BT Intranet
How much will my donation cost out of my take-home pay?
You donate
You pay
Cost to you as a 20% tax rate payer
Cost to you as a 40% tax rate payer
Cost to you as a 45% tax rate payer
To make the scheme more beneficial for you and your selected charity/ies, BT manages the scheme for you, pays the associated administrative costs and offers £1million matched funding,
so it costs you less to give more.
Which charities can I support?
Donations can be made to any national/local charity or recognised good cause such as schools and scout groups.
You might choose to donate to BT’s own charitable initiative, the BT Supporters’ Club, which seeks to transform the lives of young people through sport. Or you could choose to support one of our charity partners; Comic Relief, BBC Children in Need, ChildLine or Disasters Emergency Committee. Some people choose to support local causes like churches, hospices, schools or animal welfare schemes. Whatever charity you choose to support will receive more money through Payroll Giving than if you were to donate to them directly.
You can nominate more than one charity to benefit from your donations - and you can easily change the amount or nominated charities at any time. If your chosen charity is not listed on this site you can still support them but please include the charity number so there is no delay in forwarding on your donation. If there is a charity not listed that you would like to see here please email [email protected]
