The Seafarers' Charity

The Seafarers' Charity

At The Seafarers’ Charity, we’ve been improving the lives of seafarers and their families for over 106 years.

We started as the King George’s Fund for Sailors, providing vital assistance in troubled times.

Today, we’re evolving guided by the same powerful vision.

Through our grant giving, we’re bringing about truly life-changing impact for many who work – or have worked – at sea, and their families.

Alongside this we’re also using funding collaboration, research and advocacy to tackle the root causes of seafarer hardship and disadvantage in the UK and around the world.

Which charities can I support?

Donations can be made to any national/local charity or recognised good cause such as schools and scout groups.

You might choose to donate to BT’s own charitable initiative, the BT Supporters’ Club, which seeks to transform the lives of young people through sport. Or you could choose to support one of our charity partners; Comic Relief, BBC Children in Need, ChildLine or Disasters Emergency Committee. Some people choose to support local causes like churches, hospices, schools or animal welfare schemes. Whatever charity you choose to support will receive more money through Payroll Giving than if you were to donate to them directly.

You can nominate more than one charity to benefit from your donations - and you can easily change the amount or nominated charities at any time.  If your chosen charity is not listed on this site you can still support them but please include the charity number so there is no delay in forwarding on your donation.  If there is a charity not listed that you would like to see here please email [email protected]
