Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (UK)

Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) helps run the only cancer hospital in Pakistan, which offers free cancer treatment to patients who can’t afford it. Annually, at SKMCH, we are able to provide free cancer treatment to 75% of our patients. Other patients, depending on their financial situation, are offered subsidised treatment.

Shaukat Khanum Hospital was established in Lahore in 1994, by Imran Khan. It was a first in Pakistan, as a comprehensive care facility dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Since then, and with your trust and support, we’ve grown to expand our reach.

At IKCA, the bulk of our spending goes into the cancer care services we provide. Patients who can’t afford treatment are offered support from the outset. We cover everything from the cost of medication and pathology to treatment and surgery.

We were the first hospital in Pakistan to procure and PET CT scan, and the first to perform a bone marrow transplant in a £14,000 procedure, but at no cost to the patient whose treatment was sponsored by an anonymous donor. To date, we’ve spent in excess of £307 million on providing free cancer care in Pakistan.

Which charities can I support?

Donations can be made to any national/local charity or recognised good cause such as schools and scout groups.

You might choose to donate to BT’s own charitable initiative, the BT Supporters’ Club, which seeks to transform the lives of young people through sport. Or you could choose to support one of our charity partners; Comic Relief, BBC Children in Need, ChildLine or Disasters Emergency Committee. Some people choose to support local causes like churches, hospices, schools or animal welfare schemes. Whatever charity you choose to support will receive more money through Payroll Giving than if you were to donate to them directly.

You can nominate more than one charity to benefit from your donations - and you can easily change the amount or nominated charities at any time.  If your chosen charity is not listed on this site you can still support them but please include the charity number so there is no delay in forwarding on your donation.  If there is a charity not listed that you would like to see here please email [email protected]
