About Us

Hearing loss affects 12 million people in the UK - that’s one in six of us. As the UK’s largest charity supporting people confronting deafness, tinnitus and hearing loss, we understand how hearing loss can have devastating effects on our lives - from relationships, to education and job prospects. It can lead to people feeling isolated and alone. We fund pioneering research into treatments and cures, provide emotional and practical support in communities and empower people with hearing loss to live their lives without stigma and with equal opportunities.

Action on Hearing Loss is the trading name of the Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID). Registered Charity No. 207720 (England and Wales) and SC038926 (Scotland).
