Orbis

Orbis

ORBIS is a non-profit organisation dedicated to eliminating avoidable blindness in developing countries.

Since 1982, we’ve been to over 90 countries, trained 385,000 health care professionals and provided eye care to more than 15 million people. But there are still 39 million blind people in the world – and 80% don’t need to be. That is why, with the help of over 500 medical volunteers and our unique Flying Eye Hospital, we train eye care specialists in developing countries to prevent and treat avoidable blindness, allowing people to work, children to go to school and potentially break free from the cycle of poverty.

Which charities can I support?

Donations can be made to any UK registered national/local charity or recognised good cause – including places of worship, schools, and foodbanks.

You can nominate more than one charity to benefit from your donations, and you can easily change the amount or nominated causes at any time.

If your chosen cause is not listed on this site, you can still support them. Just make sure to include their registered charity number so there is no delay in forwarding on your donation.

If you’d like to make a difference close to home, you can choose to support University of Manchester students and research, or donate to Manchester Museum. Just look for 'The University of Manchester' on the drop-down menu when making your donation.
