Will you give students a warm welcome to Manchester?

The University of Manchester has a 200-year history of welcoming students from a diverse range of backgrounds. Now you can make sure your University remains a place where the best and brightest can thrive – no matter their circumstances.

A significant number of students joining us at Manchester will have faced huge barriers to doing so. Many will come from low-income households or be the first in their family to go on to higher education. And some will have experienced growing up in the care system or being estranged from their families.

We've all heard so much about the rising cost-of-living and everyone has felt the impact. No student should have to skip meals or make tough decisions about which bills they can afford to pay. When prices rise, it's those who are already struggling who are likely to be hardest hit.

A new generation of students need your support.

Aminat's story

Aminat is a final-year Law student who grew up in Manchester. She took part in the Manchester Access Programme which supports people from under-represented backgrounds access higher education.

Receiving a donor-funded scholarship has made university life so much easier for Aminat who chose to live at home during her studies to save money. The scholarship pays for essential items like course books and a bus pass – ensuring she can make the most of her university experience without the added worry.

Aminat now aspires to qualify as a solicitor specialising in medical negligence. Her Manchester education has inspired her passion for contributing to society and making sure people get the justice they deserve.

Arriving and thriving at Manchester

We want to welcome more talented students like Aminat from a wide range of backgrounds. And once they're here we want them to thrive. To feel like they're supposed to be here at Manchester.

Your gift will make sure that all students receive a warm welcome to their university city. You'll provide scholarships and other financial support to help them start – and stay – at Manchester. And you'll deliver the practical help they need to make the most of their time here.

What your gift can do:

  • Provide a life-changing scholarship so a student can study at Manchester
  • Deliver more hardship funding for students in urgent need
  • Help students take part in university life and set them up for future success
  • Ensure marginalised student groups receive the extra help they need

By donating today, you'll make sure students joining us can accept their places with confidence – regardless of their finances, life experiences or background. And you'll make sure they arrive safe in the knowledge they'll receive the support they need to thrive once they get here.

Potential students will be deciding whether to continue into higher education. Your gift could make the difference between them feeling able to pursue a prestigious Manchester education or not. So please consider making a donation today.

Thank you.
