Pips Programmes

Pips Programmes

PIPS was established in 2003 as a community response to rising suicide rates in Belfast after founder member Philip McTaggart lost his own son, whose nickname was Pip.

Our mission is to save lives through reducing suicides by delivering training in suicide prevention and providing support to those in suicidal crises.

PIPS currently deliver the following services:
Training: We have five suicide prevention training programmes which we developed and deliver ourselves.  They aim to give ordinary members of the public the skills to look out for warning signs of suicide, communicate with someone they are concerned about and link them to help.
Crisis Support: We provide a crisis support service for those at risk of suicide, their families and friends. You can telephone or drop in to talk to our Care Team who will de-escalate a crisis, help develop a plan to keep you or your loved one safe, and organise counselling or other support as necessary.
Bereavement Support: We can offer those bereaved by suicide free counselling services and we also run regular support group meetings and hold events in memory of those who have died by suicide.
