Heart Research UK

Heart Research UK

Every five minutes, someone in the UK dies from heart diseases.

Here at Heart Research UK, our aim is simple – we won’t stop until there are no more deaths from heart disease.

Our mission began in 1967, when cardiac surgeon David Watson founded the charity following the death of a young patient after a long heart operation. Thanks to our research, survival for children born with congenital heart disease and those who suffer heart attacks have vastly improved. However, with heart diseases responsible for over 100,000 deaths in the UK each year, we still have more work to do.

To date, we have invested over £30million into pioneering research projects and have funded regular masterclasses to teach surgeons new life-saving techniques. We’re also active in local communities, funding community projects which benefit heart health and conducting free health checks across the UK to encourage early intervention.

Your support allows us to fund more of these initiatives, spreading awareness and inspiring research that will go on to save countless lives.

It is likely that heart diseases will impact you or a loved one at some point. Setting up Payroll Giving can help us to reduce this risk today.
