Morocco Urgent Earthquake Appeal

Our teams on the ground were directly impacted and have been assessing the situation in the town of Taroudant and surrounding areas over these initial 24 hours. While we are relieved that everyone in our MCT and FAPE circles - including the children and families we support - are safe and accounted for, the immediate and medium-term needs are dire.
CURRENT SITUATION ON THE GROUND: Families have been sleeping outside as there continues to be aftershocks and many buildings are unsafe. Parents haven’t been able to go back to work and won’t be able to for a while. Children are out of school until the situation is under control. Access to food and other basic necessities has become increasingly limited. The hospital in Taroudant is overwhelmed as residents from surrounding villages are making their way to town to seek treatment.
Immediate Needs: Families are fearful and staying in the streets for safer shelter, as homes are damaged and/or vulnerable to aftershocks:
· Food
· Clothing
· School supplies
· Basic medicine
Medium term: Centre Amane expects to receive referrals from residents of
nearby villages who are coming into the town of Taroudant:
· Support abandoned children.
· Provide services for children with new disabilities.
· Obtain psycho-social support for residents.
