Families in Grief

“My childhood stopped when my Dad died.”

“I didn’t tell anyone at school that my Mum had died ..... I think my teachers knew but I kept telling everyone I was fine – but I wasn’t.”

Bereavement is one thing that all of us will experience in our lifetime. Feelings of grief can be overwhelming and unexpected. This is particularly hard for children and young people, as well as for the people supporting them.

At Families in Grief (FiG) we believe that grief is a natural response to loss - and that people need different levels of support in order to process and move forward through their grief. We provide tailored bereavement support including one to one and group support at home, school and other settings along with a range of other activities to enable young people and their families to connect, support each other and understand their feelings.

We are non-judgemental, inclusive and aim to offer bereavement support to as many families who need us.

Any support you can give will make a huge difference to children and young people at a really vulnerable time in their lives. Thank you!

About Hospice UK

We are the national charity for hospice care, supporting over 200 hospices in the UK. We believe that everyone matters throughout their life right up until they die, and that no one should die in avoidable pain or suffering.

Our aim is to make sure that everyone with a life limiting or terminal condition gets the very best care, and we believe hospices are critical to achieving this.

Collectively hospices in the UK care for around 360,000 people every year, and we work closely with them to support their vital work and to create a stronger voice for hospice care. We also support the development of hospice and palliative care worldwide.
