One Parent Families
There are 1.75 million one-parent families in Britain today, one quarter of all families, and they care for nearly 3 million children. Yet lone parents and their children can still suffer from poverty and stigma - nearly half of poor children now live in a one-parent family. One Parent Families believes we can build a fairer society for all families, in which lone parents and their children are not disadvantaged and do not suffer from poverty, isolation, or social exclusion.

We recognise that families come in all shapes and sizes and we believe that the diversity of family life should be celebrated. We provide a platform for lone parents, to enable them to have a voice. We offer free information and advice lone parents can trust, through the telephone, our publications, through our website and special events. We act as a centre of expertise, and work with others to improve services, raise awareness and change attitudes.
